We understand there are many kukri knives on the market, but quality varies greatly. At Khukuri Nepal, we do not sell low-quality or decorative kukris. Our blades are designed for real use, forged by expert bladesmiths using the “old way” of knife making – by hand, with care and tradition.
If you come across extremely cheap kukris, there’s a high chance they’re display-only pieces made from inferior materials. Our kukris are forged from 5160 high carbon steel, heat-treated for strength, and meant to be used, not just admired.
This machete also doubles as a defensive tool, designed to catch and neutralize enemy blades – a unique and historic combat feature.
To keep your kukri in top condition:
Always handle with care – kukris are sharp tools
Keep out of reach of children
Apply motor oil or any blade lubricant after use or monthly
Avoid fingerprints after oiling – use a soft, dry towel
Do not store the blade in the scabbard for long periods
For long-term storage: oil the blade heavily, wrap in plastic with no air pockets, and store in a dry place at room temperature
